What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

What we believe

We trust you will take time to look at our statement of faith. In a day in which churches are getting softer and softer in their doctrinal beliefs, we are still holding to the Book, The Blood, and the Blessed Hope. We make no apologies for being "old fashioned" in our doctrinal position. We do not go in for the new fads being taught in many churches. If you are looking for a church where the Word of God is honored and the God of the Word is worshipped, then check us out. If, after reading our mission statement and statement of faith, you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail us, call us, or stop by.

Mission Statement

The mission of the First Baptist Community Church of Los Gatos is to glorify God by producing life-long disciples committed to walking as Jesus walked, with a heart for God, a passion for the lost, and the skills to reproduce themselves in the lives of others.

Scripture

We believe the Holy Scriptures in all their parts, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original documents, infallible and God-breathed, a perfect rule, and the final authority in faith and practice. II Timothy 3:16-17, I Corinthians 2:13,
II Peter 1:16-21.

Mankind

We believe that man is justified by faith in the death of Jesus on the cross, shedding His blood for our sins, and that he is born again by grace through faith apart from works. Romans 5:1-19, Hebrews 9:22, I John 1:7, Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 2:16.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.
